The Inn at Newtown

Here at The Inn at Newtown, we have three guest rooms. Each room is individually decorated and offers many amenities to make your stay with us more enjoyable.
All 3 rooms have been recently redecorated. The Taunton, the largest of our rooms has a king size bed, large private bath with double sinks, writing desk and a reading area with a chaise lounge.
The Middle Gate Room has a queen size bed, private bath with double sinks and a writing desk.
The Hawleyville Room has a queen size bed and a private bath with double sinks.

In the center of town, about equidistant from the famous flag pole and the police station, sits one of Newtown's most iconic institutions --The Inn at Newtown. This almost 200-year-old-structure was originally built as the home of Cyrenius H. Booth, grandfather to Mary Hawley, the town's principal benefactor. The reclusive Ms. Hawley lived in the home until her death in 1930 when it was sold and remodeled to begin a new life as the Hawley Manor Inn.
In 1999, after extensive renovations, it was acquired by the Ryder Family of Newtown and New Canaan and renamed the Inn at Newtown. It has been beautifully redesigned and decorated to retain its original charm

with touches of modernity to add comfort and charisma. It houses an extensive and exquisite collection of original art including fabulous French advertising posters from the early 1900s and original oils from the late 1800s and early 1900s. Zagat Survey referred to us as a "comfortable old inn with incredible artwork on the walls and gas fireplaces and large wingback chairs to set the mood."
In the great New England tradition, the Inn today is a center of activity in the town and a virtual industry unto itself. Without question, it is the town's most distinguished dining location with venues under its roof for cocktails, casual dining, fine dining, parties, meetings and banquets and after dinner entertainment. It also offers spacious and lovely sleeping rooms each with its own bathroom.
